An exhibition exploring human mortality through the immortalisation of
the last words spoken by people of note throughout history using photography, machine embroidery & animated text.
Simone Paterson is our first International Artist to exhibit in Gallery 139. Educated in Australia, with a PhD from The University of Newcastle, and a MFA from the University of Sydney, SCA. She is now an Associate Professor, Virginia Tech, U.S.A where she is the Chair of Undergraduate Studies in Creative Technologies. Her international art exhibits include, fabric forms, photography and interactive video/ animations. We are delighted to be exhibiting Simone for a 3 week solo exhibition.
Simone Paterson's Newcastle goes back 15 or more years when she studied and lectured in Photomedia at The University of Newcastle, Australia, and was the Director of Watt Space Student Gallery of the University of Newcastle for 3 years. Simone has been living in Virginia, USA teaching and exhibiting. She returned to Newcastle in 2014 and exhibited at Maitland Regional Art Gallery and in 2012 she exhibited at PODspace gallery.
